Press Editorial – by Journalist Greg Nixon
ANTICIPATION mingles with excitement – the King is in the building and ready to rock’n’roll. Then the original GI Joe hits the stage and the journey through the many faces of Elvis is underway. This is not a tribute act – this is a celebration of everything that is the legend of Elvis Presley. It’s the King in all his glory, from rock’n’roll rebel turned GI heart-throb, to leather-clad icon to Las Vegas show-stopper. David Presley as Elvis isn’t just any old tribute act. Yes, all the ingredients are there, from Jailhouse Rock to Suspicious Minds, but this Elvis wants you to be involved in the show. No – he insists you get involved in the show! … Read More >>
Additional Information – A personal message!
David Presley as Elvis was created to fulfill a lifetime’s ambition to pay tribute to the greatest entertainer of all time. I have loved the king of rock and roll all my life and recently visited Memphis, taking in Beale Street the birthplace of rhythm and blues and Sun Studios where I held the very microphone Elvis sang into for ‘That’s all Right’ the song that started it all. But without question the highlight of the holiday was to walk in his shoes at his home ‘Graceland’.It was an extremely emotional experience as I stood and paid my respects to my idol and friend in his meditation garden beside him. I say friend, because Elvis has been beside me throughout my life. In good times such as the birth of my son (Aaron), where his song ‘My Boy’ took on greater significance, or in times of trouble when songs such as ‘If I can Dream’ have inspired me.
I truly believe that in death as in life, Elvis loves and treasures all of his loyal fans. In every book I have ever read and every documentary I have ever watched all those who met Elvis agree on one thing, he was the most caring, respectful and humble human being.
One definition of the word impersonator is to assume the appearance of someone. But how can you ever compare with Elvis Presley. Elvis once said about himself ‘It’s hard to live up to an image,’ how right he was, especially his. Perhaps this is why the word impersonator in the Elvis world is seldom used. All any Elvis Tribute Act can hope to achieve is to sing the songs the way he sung them, and as close to his likeness as possible.
It is a great privilege to sing these songs and to aid in keeping the memory of Elvis Presley alive. In ‘An American Trilogy’ there is the line ‘his truth goes marching on,’ when I sing the song I see this truth as both the man and his music. Both are as relevant and current today as they ever were. How many artists will maintain their iconic status 40 years after their final onstage performance?
I believe life is about people and the relationships between them. I have told you about my relationship with the King, and I trust and hope yours is just as special. If I sound like the person you would wish to book for your event I cannot wait to bring my tribute to you. It will be energetic, full throttle, to quote the great man himself ‘pure entertainment.’
If not I trust you have enjoyed visiting my website and reading about my personal love and respect for ‘The King’ I was once asked by a close friend what would I say if I could ever meet Elvis Presley, the answer was simple, two words, ‘thank you.’Again may God Bless Elvis Aaron Presley who is still Taking Care of Business.
